Employment Tribunal Procedure Rules 2024 now in force (from 6 Jan 2025)

The Employment Tribunal Procedure Rules 2024 (SI 2024/1155) came into effect on 6 January 2025, replacing the 2013 Regulations for all Employment Tribunals in England & Wales. A joint letter from the ET Presidents confirms that existing Practice Directions and Presidential Guidance remain in force, and that references under the old Rules should be read as references to the new 2024 Rules, using the conversion table published by Regional Employment Judge David Franey. For parties using layman support, the change largely involves re‑numbering, drafting updates, and clarified procedural layout, rather than wholesale change in substance. Lay support users should check they refer to the correct 2024 rule numbers in any correspondence, responses, or case‑management statements.
