The HMCTS Remote Participation Approach (published May 2025) establishes formal criteria for remote or hybrid hearings, specifically addressing participant vulnerability, fairness, and access for those with disabilities or digital access issues. It also outlines expectations around technological readiness, submission of evidence digitally, and how parties can request adjustments. Courts and Tribunals Judiciary+1


For lay customers, this means remote hearings are now more structurally supported, but success depends on early preparation: ensuring documents are correctly formatted, platforms tested in advance, and any vulnerability or accessibility issue clearly communicated to the court.
